Australian Prayer CDs featured a listener prayer request to St
Mary McKillop – Australia's first saint.

& Development of 4 CD Set of Daily Prayers:
1973
– Richard Garnaut receives vocation.
1982 – Richard
Garnaut establishes Cairns Production & Recording Studios”
using a Tascam 80-8 8 track recorder, and starts recording first
prayers.
May 1993 - Richard Garnaut commences operation of a
self-funded pro-life suicide prevention Christian ministry in
Diocese of Cairns.
May 2006 - ministry could not source
suitable, affordable Aussie-accent Daily Prayer CDs suitable for
clients.
June 2006, Richard funds development of a simple 4 CD
Set of Daily Prayers to supply ministry needs.
(plus start was
made on one of the world's largest collection of recorded Catholic
Prayers.)
February 2007 – 4 CD Set of Daily Prayers went
on sale in St Monica's Cathedral Bookshop Cairns (Ph:+61 074051
9245)
June 2010 – Richard funds recording of a special
edition of Prayer recordings to honour the pending canonisation of
St Mary McKillop.
Sunday 17th
October 2010 - “4 CD Set
of Daily Prayers – St Mary McKillop Special Edition”
launched – all attending childrens' liturgy at 10am Mass in
Cathedral received a set.
December 2011 – online shopping
cart established.
18th
August 2011 – a decision
was made by a college chaplain to provide “4 CD Set of Daily
Prayers – St Mary McKillop Special Edition” to each
senior school leaver at their school. This leads to 720 CD sets
being made available to principals so that every senior school
leaver in Diocese of Cairns Schools could receive a set.
From
February 2007 – December 2011, over 2,200 4 CD Sets of Daily
Prayers have been distributed throughout the Diocese of Cairns
through an informal network of Eucharist Ministers, Priests,
Deacons, Religious, Rosary Groups, Aged Care Facilities, Pastoral
Carers, and various ministries.
